The Sportsmen's Foundation Expands Humanitarian Initiative
Dallas, TX – March 28, 2008 – Building on a successfully completed water wells project in Africa and other local efforts to fight homelessness, cancer, diabetes and abuse; The Sportsmen’s Foundation is expanding the scope of their initial project to support disaster relief efforts.
In the past few years, we all have regretfully witnessed the power and destruction of a rouge hurricane, record blizzards and flash floods, leaving hundreds of thousands homeless, separated from their families and unable to care for themselves. No one can prepare for such a life altering situation; not even the organizations focused solely on providing emergency rations, the need is simply too great.
By partnering with organizations and agencies whose focus is to prepare and distribute food and emergency supplies, TSF will help in better caring for those in need. Sportsmen for Humanity project manager Manolack Smith said, “Our focus will be on providing desperately needed muscle building protein sources, which are essential for recovery as well as life support. And Sportsmen not only have ample fresh supplies of these all-natural foods, but they are more than willing to share it as well.”
The ancillary benefit to the Sportsmen for Humanity initiative is helping to change the negative stereotype typically associated with hunters and fisherman; as most people think of outdoorsmen as Bubba's and hayseeds who are only interested in mounting trophies on their walls for bragging rights. The foundation knows, however, that “true sportsmen” are not only conservationists, they are also humanitarians and by taking part in projects such as this, they can set the example for others to follow.
